Prepare for the Iowa knowledge test
Prepare with the Iowa DOT manual’s chapters on signs and road rules, preparing to drive, basic driving and applying your skills. Licensing steps depend on your age and experience; check Iowa DOT before arranging your knowledge test.
This set covers signs and lane markings, right-of-way, speed and stopping, parking, turns, freeway driving, pedestrians and cyclists, impairment, emergencies and safe driving. It is a starting point, not complete coverage of the manual.

Choose how you practice
Practice Mode
Work without a timer. Selecting an answer shows the explanation and official source immediately. You can revise answers while learning; the final selections determine your result.
Timed Test Mode
Use a 40-minute session with explanations held until submission or timeout. Navigate between questions, flag items and track your progress. The timer continues if you leave or reload.
40 questions and 40 minutes are PrepTestLab practice settings. This is not a reproduction of the official examination or its time allowance.
Use your result to plan what to study
The practice target is 80% — 32 of 40 correct. Unanswered questions count as incorrect. This aggregate target is our learning benchmark, not an official pass or a prediction of your licensing result.

Retakes use the same questions. The latest attempt for this test version is saved in your browser. Starting a new attempt replaces only this test’s saved attempt; other states and GED progress remain separate.
